Pasay City police arrested three men during an anti-illegal gambling operation, including two suspects previously seen in a viral social media post allegedly engaging in a roadside drug session on Tuesday, June 9.
Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspects as Allan, 34, a construction worker and resident of Russell Street, Barangay 76; Jeff, 37, a tricycle driver from Hernandez Street, Barangay 76; and Leo, 37, of Ignacio Street, Barangay 75.
Allan and Jeff were the same individuals caught in a viral video allegedly using illegal drugs in front of San Juan de Dios Hospital in Barangay 76.
The clip quickly spread online, garnering about 1,300 reactions, 506 comments, and 570 shares.
The three were arrested during a crackdown on the illegal street gambling activity “cara y cruz,” where police also recovered suspected illegal drugs and gambling paraphernalia.
They now face charges for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 (illegal gambling) and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police officials assured the public that reports received through social media are promptly validated and acted upon in line with proper procedures.
Authorities also encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities, stressing that community cooperation is vital in maintaining peace and order in Pasay City.
