Pasig barangays hold evacuation drill for emergency readiness
Pasig City barangays conducted a community evacuation drill to prepare residents, especially vulnerable groups in high‑risk areas, for emergencies.
On June 7, the evacuation drill in Barangay Pinagbuhatan was conducted as the final phase of the City Social Welfare and Development Office's (CSWDO) Community Tagging and Profiling of Vulnerable Sectors in High-Risk Areas initiative.
Around 40 families, composed of 90 individuals from the Ilugin Riverside and Sibol communities, participated in the drill.
The Barangay Pinagbuhatan Council, through its Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee, worked with CSWDO to facilitate the evacuation of residents and assist them upon arrival at the Nagpayong Multipurpose Evacuation Center.
The local government said the community drill was conducted following the community organizing and profiling phase to assess the community’s preparedness during emergencies, including the orderly evacuation of residents, processing of evacuees, and management of evacuation centers using new protocols and systems.
The drill featured the use of pre-profiling data through the Pasig ALERTO (Automated Local Evacuation and Response Tracking Operation) System to speed up the registration and processing of internally displaced persons (IDPs) during disasters.
On March 1, an evacuation drill was also held at the Westbank Community Center in partnership with Barangay Maybunga, with 127 families participating in the exercise.
The drill also featured a simulation of the barangay’s Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment, which started under a White Alert and was later raised to a Yellow Alert, prompting evacuation preparations and the actual movement of residents to safety. A fire truck's siren signaled the community to evacuate immediately.

The exercise also included all evacuation center operations, from receiving evacuees and distributing assistance to sanitizing the facility after use, which were carried out as part of an actual response process.
As a gesture of appreciation, participating families received relief goods and hot meals.
The local government vowed that the CSWDO, partner local government offices, and barangay governments will continue strengthening community preparedness to ensure an organized and effective response during disasters.
It added that it will conduct similar simulations in other barangays, particularly those with a higher number of potential IDPs, to strengthen preparedness and ensure the effective implementation of the new evacuation system throughout the city.
