CAVITE — A household helper was arrested in Dasmariñas City on Sunday, June 7, for allegedly stealing her employer’s jewelry, including a gold bracelet valued at P500,000.
In a statement on Monday, June 8, the Cavite Police Provincial Office (Cavite PPO) identified the suspect as alias Novy.
Initial investigation said the complainant, alias Thea, briefly left her bracelet on a table before going to the restroom. Upon returning, she allegedly saw Novy taking the jewelry and leaving the residence.
The complainant immediately pursued and confronted the suspect, resulting in the recovery of the bracelet worth half a million.
Responding police officers later conducted an investigation and inspected the suspect’s belongings, where they found several pawnshop receipts.
Authorities said verification showed that the items listed in the receipts matched pieces of jewelry reportedly owned by the complainant and previously discovered missing from the residence.
The suspect is now under police custody while authorities prepare the filing of a qualified theft complaint.
“Trust is the foundation of every household, and any betrayal of that trust for personal gain will be dealt with accordingly under the full force of the law,” Cavite PPO director Col. Ariel R. Red said.
