Apple has wrapped up this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference with an AI-forward future. The highlight of the event is a revamped Siri. Now called Siri AI, this upgrade features context awareness that goes in tandem with Apple Intelligence. These updates encompass iOS 27, iPad OS, and macOS Golden Gate.
Siri AI
Siri AI feels like the Siri we were promised years ago when Apple first acquired and popularized it in 2011 alongside the iPhone 4S. Users will now be able to throw back and forth conversations with it, and will not feature contextual awareness. Basically, this means it will now know what’s on your screen and be able to respond based on the information there.
Soon, users will be able to swipe down from the Dynamic Island to bring out Siri AI. Siri will also be present in the camera app, so when users can point their camera at an object and ask Siri more about it.
MacOS Golden Gate will also get new Siri AI features. For example, you can look at a festival event and screenshot the performances you’re interested in, and the information there will be added to your calendar.
Besides Siri AI, Apple Intelligence gets some updates as well. This includes Safari’s new feature to organize tabs based on topics, saving them into groups. This can reduce clutter in tabs and help provide a cleaner and more organized browsing experience. You’ve got to admit, tabs can go crazy in such a short time while browsing.
Messages and Mail will get smart automatic replies, which Apple says will replicate the user's writing style. Calendar events can be added and changed based on description alone.
Image Playground, Apple’s slop generator, will also get new ways to generate slop to continue plaguing the internet. Soon, Image Playground will be able to generate photorealistic images, as well as wallpapers. Apple frames this slop generator in an uplifting way that users can use this creatively. Every image generated will have a SynthID watermark to let people across the internet know that this is a generated AI image.
Apple Intelligence will soon be able to proofread texts for users. Imagine a world where everyone talks like Jane Austen.
The new OS 27 now also has new parental controls. Users will be able to set up Child Accounts, which will put up certain guardrails for children under 13 and can be maintained until they hit 18.
