TACLOBAN CITY — A 36-year-old public school teacher was found dead in Barangay Alang-Alang, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar on Monday, June 8.
The Quinapondan Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a report of a body concealed in thick grass. Police discovered the victim lying on his side.
Relatives identified the victim as Leo and a resident of the town.
Autopsy conducted by the police revealed that the victim had three stab wounds.
Investigation showed that Leo was last seen on June 6 riding a motorcycle driven by Ryan with another rider, Rick, following them toward an alley where Ryan lives.
Leo went missing and police reviewed the victim’s social media messages which indicated Leo and Ryan planned to meet before he was found dead.
These led authorities to Ryan’s residence near where Leo’s body was found. Discovered in the area were bloodstains believed to be connected to the crime.
With these leads, the Quinapondan MPS, along with the Provincial Investigation Unit and supported by the Santa Rita MPS, launched a hot pursuit operation that resulted in Ryan’s arrest.
Authorities have yet to find out the motive behind the killing. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
