SC suspends court operations in areas hit by magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao
Court operations in areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao are suspended today, June 8.
The Supreme Court (SC) said the situation in the affected areas is continuously being monitored.
Suspended are operations in all courts within the jurisdiction of Zamboanga City in Judicial Region IX.
In Judicial Region XI, suspended are the operations in court within Sarangani province, Digos City courts, Island Garden City of Samal courts, Tagum City court, and those in Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Mati City, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, Davao City, and Davao del Sur.
Also suspended in Judicial Region XII were courts in Tacurong City and those in Sultan Kudarat.
A magnitude7.8 temblor hit the coast of Sarangani at 7:37 a.m. on Monday, June 8.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) issued a tsunami warning for several coastal provinces in Mindanao.
As of posting time, Phivolcs reported that tsunami waves of varying heights, including a maximum recorded height of 1.4 meters, were detected by sea-level monitoring stations.
Phivolcs said that tsunami activity remains ongoing, with sea-level monitoring stations in several parts of Mindanao continuing to record tsunami waves hours after the earthquake.
