Remulla OKs work-from-home for Ombudsman employees in Mindanao after strong quake

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla suspended the on-site work arrangement for the agency’s offices in Mindanao following the 7.8 magnitude quake that hit Sarangani and nearby areas on Monday morning, June 8.
Instead, Remulla said all Mindanao offices will be under under a work-from-home arrangement until further notice.
Authorities are confirming the death of eight people in central Mindanao, Davao region and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Several others were injured and in General Santos alone, more than 130 people were injured.
Social media were also flooded with photos and videos of the extent of damage— from damaged roads and houses to collapsed buildings. Power lines were also damaged in various areas of the three affected regions.
“The work from home order was issued to ensure the safety and well-being of the Ombudsman employees,” Remulla said.
He said inspections are under way to ensure the structural integrity of the Ombudsman in Matina, Davao City and at the YMCA Building in Cagayan de Oro City.
