PNP: 3 dead, over 37 structures damaged in Mindanao after 7.8 magnitude quake

At least three people were confirmed dead while more than four others were injured after the 7.8 magnitude quake resulted in building and infrastructure damage and collapse in some parts of Mindanao, police reported on Monday, June 8.
A report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City revealed that the three fatalities were reported in central Mindanao with three other injured victims. At least one person was reported injured in Northern Mindanao.
In Davao region, at least one landslide was reported while 17 structures were reported to have been damaged.
Of the damaged structures in the region, police said 12 of them are commercial establishments, four are government offices.
At least three power lines were also affected as a result of the tremor.
In central Mindanao, or Region 12, at least 20 structures were damaged—14 of them are commercial establishments, two are residential houses, two are hospitals, and two are schools.
In the same region, 26 areas were reported to have affected power lines while at least one landslide was also reported.
The 7.8 magnitude quake struck off the coast of Sarangani at 7:37 a.m. on Monday, June 8, prompting the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) to issue a tsunami warning for several coastal provinces in Mindanao.
At least four police stations were also damaged.
Police forces in affected areas were already mobilized to assist in securing the public while damage assessment is ongoing.
