Tourism remains an important driver of growth for many communities across the Philippines, creating demand not only for attractions and experiences but also for accommodations that can support a growing number of travelers. As destinations continue to evolve, Megaworld Corporation is expanding its hospitality presence with six new hotel developments that will rise in leisure destinations and township communities across the country.
Over the next three years, the property developer is set to add nearly 2,000 room keys to its hospitality portfolio through six new hotel developments. Managed by Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, these include ArcoVia Hotel at ArcoVia City in Pasig City; Savoy Capital Town at Capital Town in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga; The Hamptons Hotel at The Hamptons Caliraya in Cavinti, Laguna; Paragua Sands Hotel and Savoy Hotel Palawan at Paragua Coastown in San Vicente, Palawan; and The Kingsford at The Upper East in Bacolod City.
Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, president and CEO of Megaworld Corporation, highlighted the growing role of hospitality in supporting local economies and attracting investments across the country, saying, “Our goal is to have more than 20 hotels and about 9,000 hotel rooms when we reach our 40th year within the next three years. This will further help us unlock big opportunities and continue supporting tourism as a major catalyst of development and economic growth across the country.”
Among the upcoming developments are two beachfront hotels within the 462-hectare Paragua Coastown in San Vicente, Palawan, the developer's first ecotourism township. Together, Savoy Hotel Palawan and Paragua Sands Hotel will offer more than 600 rooms with views of both the sea and surrounding mountains, helping support the area's emergence as a tourism destination. In Laguna, The Hamptons Hotel will rise within the 300-hectare The Hamptons Caliraya, offering lakeside accommodations overlooking Lake Caliraya and the surrounding landscape.
The company's city-based hospitality developments are also expanding within its township communities. ArcoVia Hotel will become the company's tallest hotel upon completion at 31 stories, while Savoy Capital Town will mark its first hotel development in Pampanga. In Bacolod, The Kingsford is expected to add new accommodations and event spaces to The Upper East, catering to both business and leisure travelers.
The hospitality business continues to gain momentum, generating ₱1.5 billion in revenues during the first quarter of the year, up eight percent from the same period last year. Following the recent opening of Chancellor Hotel Boracay, its third hotel within Boracay Newcoast, the company is preparing to launch Belmont Hotel Iloilo, the third hotel in Iloilo Business Park. It is also set to complete the transition of the 1,531-room Grand Westside Hotel into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside Hotel, which will become the largest Mövenpick property in the world.
The expansion is part of the company's broader vision for its hospitality business, which is expected to grow to 22 properties with approximately 9,000 room keys nationwide by the end of the decade. Backed by ongoing hotel developments and a growing mix of local and international brands, the company continues to expand its footprint across key destinations, supporting the increasing demand for accommodations while contributing to the country's tourism industry.
