BACK TO WORK: Kim Soo-hyun to resume activities with PH brand ad shoot
After more than a year away from public activities, Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun is set to make his return through an advertising shoot for a Philippine fashion brand in July, marking a significant comeback following a prolonged hiatus and a highly publicized controversy.
His agency, Gold Medalist, confirmed the development in statements to Korean media outlets MHN Sports and Newsen, saying, “Kim Soo-hyun is proceeding with an advertisement shoot for the representative Philippine fashion brand ‘Bench.’ A print shoot is scheduled for July 14.” The agency also reiterated, “It is true that the shoot is for a commercial in the Philippines. Filming is scheduled for July 14.”
Kim was previously announced as an endorser for the brand in 2024, but his activities were put on hold as he stepped back from the public eye amid allegations involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron.
In recent developments, Korean authorities have cleared Kim of accusations that he dated Kim Sae-ron when she was still a minor. Following this, legal proceedings have also moved forward against YouTuber Kim Se-ui of the Garosero Institute (also known as HoverLab), who had made the allegations and was recently arrested on defamation-related charges.
With the case shifting in his favor, Kim’s upcoming campaign is being viewed as a key first step in rebuilding his public presence, as his return to advertising signals a gradual resumption of activities after a difficult period marked by intense scrutiny and controversy.
