Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the city government is ready for the opening of classes in public schools on June 8.
The Department of Education’s Schools Division Office (SDO) in Muntinlupa has implemented Project Handa 2026 to ensure that all public schools in the city are prepared.
Classrooms and facilities were inspected, safety measures were adjusted, emergency equipment was prepared, and a learning environment was ensured for students and teachers, said Biazon.
The mayor also had a meeting with the SDO, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, Colegio de Muntinlupa, Association of Private Schools, and the Department of Disaster Resilience and Management to establish protocols for class suspension announcements.
Various city government offices have also prepared for the opening of classes.
There will be additional police presence around schools in Muntinlupa, including Police Assistance Desks, foot patrols, and mobile patrols to help ensure the security of students.
The city government’s City Security Office and Public Order and Safety Office are also in full force to ensure security visibility in schools, and the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau is on standby in major school zones to assist with safe crossings and smooth traffic flow, especially during the hours when students go to school and go home.
For dengue prevention measures, Biazon said the City Health Office will be conducting misting and space spraying in public schools.
The Muntinlupa Engineering Department also conducted maintenance and improvement works in several schools as part of preparations for the opening of classes.
“Sa mga students, good luck sa bagong school year, and welcome back to school, mga Muntinlupeño! (To the students, good luck in the new school year, and welcome back to school, Muntinlupeños!),” said Biazon.
