President Marcos has assured overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that they can rely on assistance whenever they need it wherever they may be.
In his message for the Migrant Workers' Day on Sunday, June 7, Marcos recognized the goodness, excellence, and resilience of OFWs in every corner of the world.
"Dahil dito, patuloy namin kayong ipinagmamalaki. Bilang inyong pamahalaan, muli naming pinagtitibay ang aming pangarap na paglaban ang inyong mga karapatan, pangalagaan ang inyong mga kapakanan, at palawakin ang suporta para sa inyo at sa inyong pamilya (For this, we remain deeply proud of you. As your government, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting your rights, safeguarding your welfare, and expanding support for you and your families)," Marcos said.
He assured them that they are protected while they are abroad, and will be given opportunities when they return home.
"Tinitiyak natin na may maaasahan kayong tulong kapag kailangan, may sapat na proteksyon habang kayo'y nasa ibang bansa, at may malinaw na oportunidad sa inyong pagbabalik at muling pagsisimula dito sa Pilipinas (We ensure that you can rely on assistance whenever you need it, that you are adequately protected while working abroad, and that clear opportunities await you when you return home and begin anew here in the Philippines)," Marcos added.
He underscored that by leaving home to seek opportunities abroad, OFWs help secure a brighter future for their families and contribute to the progress of the country.
The President acknowledged them leaving the country "often comes at the cost of longing for your loved ones, missing family celebrations, and facing challenges that only you can truly understand."
"Sa kabila ng lahat ng ito, patuloy kayong lumalabas taglay ang mga katangiang Pilipino—masipag, maaasahan, mapagmalasakit, at matatag sa anumang pagsubok na dala ng buhay (Despite all these sacrifices, you continue to stand strong, embodying the finest Filipino values—hardworking, dependable, compassionate, and resilient in the face of life's trials)," he said.
He further assured OFWs that the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and in partnership with other government agencies, will continue to strengthen programs that genuinely address their needs.
"May this Migrant Workers' Day reminds us that every OFW's story is a story of hope, courage, and of nation building," he said.
"Sama sama nating itaguyod ang isang Bagong Pilipinas kung saan ang bawat manggagawang Pilipino, saan man panig ng mundo naroon, ay protektado, may oportunidad, at may dangal (Together, let us build a new Philippines where every Filipino worker, wherever they may be in the world, is protected, given opportunities, and treated with dignity)," he added.
