Manila warns Binondo businesses vs. alleged fake permit inspector
The Manila city government has warned business owners, particularly in Binondo, against an individual allegedly posing as a city business permit inspector and soliciting money.
In an advisory, the Bureau of Permits identified the individual as “Albert A. Torres,” who has been presenting himself as a Business Permit Inspector and asking for payments supposedly related to permits, inspections, and other government transactions.
Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo clarified that the individual is not connected with the Manila city government and has no authority to represent the office in any capacity.
Officials reminded the public that all legitimate payments must be made only at the Taxpayers Business Lounge of the City Treasurer’s Office at Manila City Hall or through the GoManila app.
The city government stressed that any collection or request for payment outside official channels is illegal and will not be tolerated.
Authorities urged the public to immediately report any similar incidents or suspicious activities to the Bureau of Permits or the Manila Police District for proper investigation and action.
