A fire broke out in a residential area along Felix Huertas Street, at the corner of Yuseco Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, early Sunday morning, June 7, prompting a swift response from firefighters.
According to initial reports, the blaze occurred in front of the Vertex One condominium complex and Cecilio Apostol Elementary School.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared the fire under first alarm at around 3:09 a.m. as firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses in the densely populated community.
Authorities said the fire was placed under control at around 3:30 a.m. and was fully extinguished by 3:53 a.m.
A total of eight fire trucks and one ambulance were deployed to assist with fire suppression operations, with responders from both government and volunteer fire brigades.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
The BFP said the investigation is ongoing, while personnel remain at the scene to ensure the area is safe and the fire is completely out.
