The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) remains on alert and continues to closely monitor Tropical Depression (TS) "Ester" as the weather disturbance moved farther north of Batanes.
Despite the lifting of all Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals, the NDRRMC said on Saturday, June 6, that government agencies are maintaining preparedness measures and monitoring activities to address any potential impacts from the tropical cyclone and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
The NDRRMC Operations Center (NDRRMOC) has activated its Virtual Emergency Operations Center and continues to coordinate with regional disaster councils and member agencies.
It also conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) meeting and issued Memorandum No. 132, s. 2026, directing preparedness actions related to Tropical Depression Ester and the southwest monsoon.
The NDRRMC said it is continuously disseminating weather advisories and warnings to local government units and the public while monitoring developments in the cyclone's movement.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has also sustained round-the-clock weather monitoring and the issuance of forecasts and advisories for concerned stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) activated its Emergency Operations Center and Disaster Online Reporting and Monitoring System, while the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) released geohazard advisories and identified flood- and landslide-prone barangays based on rainfall forecasts.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health's Health Emergency Management Bureau placed concerned offices under Code White Alert to ensure readiness for any weather-related emergencies.
As of 4 a.m. Saturday, Ester was located about 380 kilometers north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kph. No wind signals are currently in effect.
