The Manila Police District (MPD) has stepped up its community engagement efforts by conducting barangay-level forums aimed at strengthening coordination and trust between the police and local communities.
MPD Director Brig. Gen. Arnold C. Santiago said the initiative is part of a broader push to reinforce partnerships with barangay officials, barangay tanod, civic groups, and other force multipliers in maintaining peace and order across Manila.
During the forums, police personnel discussed key concerns on public safety, crime prevention, and rapid response, while encouraging residents and local leaders to actively participate in reporting incidents and sharing information with authorities.
Santiago emphasized that building stronger ties with communities is essential to effective policing, noting that cooperation at the grassroots level helps prevent crime and ensures faster resolution of incidents.
In support of this effort, the MPD has also deployed additional personnel from its headquarters to various police stations to boost visibility on the ground.
Police station commanders have likewise been directed to sustain close coordination with barangays and support operations such as “Oplan Galugad,” part of the Philippine National Police’s SAFE Manila program.
The MPD said it remains committed to fostering a more responsive and community-oriented police service, underscoring that public safety is a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the public.
