Mayor Isko joins Judiciary Month rites marking Supreme Court's 125th year

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso joined the opening of Judiciary Month, which carries the theme “SC: 125 Years of Tradition and Innovation,” honoring the Supreme Court’s 125 years of upholding justice and the rule of law in the country.'

The event highlighted the judiciary’s long-standing role in safeguarding democratic institutions, while also emphasizing its efforts to adapt to modern challenges through innovation and reform.

A key part of the program was the unveiling of a historical marker and the signing of the Certificate of Transfer and Acceptance, led by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Executive Director Carminda Arevalo.

Domagoso personally witnessed the ceremony alongside members of the judiciary and other guests.

The historical marker serves as a tribute to the judiciary’s contribution to nation-building, recognizing its influence in shaping legal frameworks and protecting citizens’ rights throughout the years.

It also stands as a symbol of the institution’s continuing evolution while preserving the traditions that strengthen the country’s justice system.

Domagoso was warmly received upon his arrival at the Supreme Court as he joined officials, stakeholders, and guests in commemorating the milestone anniversary.

The activities form part of the month-long observance aimed at raising awareness of the judiciary’s mandate and reinforcing public trust in the legal system.

Judiciary Month is observed annually to highlight the importance of an independent and effective judicial system, as well as to celebrate the people and institutions behind the administration of justice in the Philippines.
