ILOILO CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos distributed financial assistance to all barangays in Western Visayas region.
The First Couple distributed checks under the “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” program during a luncheon with local officials on Friday, June 5, here.
Governors Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. of Iloilo, Paolo Javier of Antique, Fredenil Castro of Capiz, Maria Lucille Nava of Guimaras, and Jose Enrique “Joen” Miraflores of Antique, and Mayor Raisa Treñas of Iloilo City were present.
Ex-officio members representing the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) were also present. They were Amalia Debuque of Iloilo, Julius Tajanlangit of Antique, Nico Yap of Capiz, Marcelo Malones Jr. of Guimaras, Ralf Tolosa of Aklan, and Irene Ong of Iloilo City.
The Marcos administration allocated P200,000 for every barangay under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
P100,000 is for financial assistance for five graduating college students who are residents of a barangay. The remaining P100,000 is for the improvement of facilities, including street lights or water systems.
The First Couple was in Iloilo City for the graduation of law students at West Visayas State University (WVSU), where the First Lady is a law professor. President Marcos served as the commencement speaker.
