- Mariel Rodriguez Padilla says her family remains unaffected by the political controversies involving husband Sen. Robin Padilla, stressing that while politics may be chaotic, their home life remains peaceful and focused on family.
Amid the controversies and political issues involving her husband, Sen. Robin Padilla, television host Mariel Rodriguez Padilla maintained that their family remains unaffected by the noise surrounding the senator's public life.
Speaking to reporters during the special screening of "Bad Boy 3" in Quezon City, Mariel stressed that while politics may be turbulent, things remain peaceful at home.
“We do our normal everyday thing. Politika lang naman lahat ng magulo. Kami OK kami. Hindi kami magulo. Politika lang magulo,” she said.
Her remarks come as Padilla continues to face scrutiny over various Senate-related controversies, including a recent incident with Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Despite the criticisms directed at her husband, Mariel said she has learned not to let such issues affect her personally.
“I don’t get affected like how people would like or think I would. No. With everything thrown our way, kung mahina ako, baka. But I am surprised with how strong I am,” she said.
“At this point, makakapitan mo is everything is God’s will. Siguro sa age ko na din—ipagpapasa-Diyos mo na talaga.”
Mariel also shared that Robin himself remains unfazed by the controversies and has taught her not to give undue attention to criticism.
“Robin is really great. Sobra. Before, he would tell me wag ko bigyan ng oras. Sa kanya ko natutunan,” she said.
According to Mariel, discussions about politics rarely dominate conversations at home, with the couple choosing instead to focus on raising their children.
“It is always about our children. Ang dami niya na nakausap tungkol doon. So minsan na lang. My question is always, ‘Are you OK?’ If he tells me he is OK, we are all good,” she said.
The television host added that her role is to support her husband and ensure that their home remains a place of comfort amid the pressures of public life.
“I make sure we have a healthy meal, something home cooked. Yung gusto niya. Always naman we stand by his principles and courage. We pray for him and his safety,” she said.
