Loving Lola through a CCTV camera

CCTV cameras have become very affordable. You can purchase one for less than a thousand pesos. And while users often get one for security purposes and to keep an eye on things at home, Cj used one so she can communicate with her grandmother.

Content creator Cj Rm, “Claire in usa” on Facebook and @clairemusicplaylist on TikTok, made netizens cry when she shared videos of her grandmother in the Philippines. Based in the United States, Cj, who describes herself as a “Lola’s girl,” shared a video last June 1, 2026 of finally being able to talk and see her 94-year-old grandmother through their CCTV since moving to the US.

In the video, Cj’s grandmother expressed her gratitude at finally being able to hear her voice.

“Look at how precious my lola (grandmother) is” Cj captioned her video.

Netizens left positive comments on Cj’s post, sharing that the video made them think about their grandparents as well.

“My two lolas passed away. Seeing (a) video like this makes me cry so hard, because I miss them so much. Wherever you are, Lola and Nanay rn (right now), I hope you two are okay. I love you,” one comment read.

Cj posted two other videos with her grandmother, the latest of which shows Cj in a split screen. “Love kita siyempre (Of course I love you),” Cj told her Lola. Cj’s grandmother was also seen thanking God for being able to communicate with her granddaughter. Cj said that she would buy a hearing aid for her grandmother so she can hear her better.

Life’s circumstances may take us far away from our loved ones, but sometimes a bit of creativity and affordable tech can shorten the distance and make their love and presence felt.
