DAVAO CITY – Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Philippines reopened its Davao City branch and launched its refreshed HSBC Premier proposition at Dusit Thani Residence Davao here on Thursday night, June 4, highlighting the bank’s long-term commitment to Mindanao’s expanding financial and tourism-linked economy.
HSBC Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Sandeep Uppa said Davao has become an important part of the bank’s network in the country, noting its presence in the city since 2006 and describing it as one of HSBC’s most modern international branches in the Philippines.
Uppa underscored the bank’s global footprint and long-standing history in the country as HSBC has been operating in the Philippines for more than 150 years since opening its first branch in 1875.
“As HSBC reopens its doors in one of the country’s most dynamic cities, we are proud to introduce a more elevated banking experience designed for individuals whose needs extend beyond borders,” Uppa said.
He added that the updated HSBC Premier offering is designed to support clients through international connectivity, citing the bank’s network in more than 50 markets and enhanced travel-focused services, including the Premier Travel Card.
Uppa expressed personal appreciation for Davao, noting that he has visited key tourism sites in the region, including the Philippine Eagle Center, Malagos Chocolate Museum, and Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort.
HSBC Philippines head of International Wealth and Premier Banking Pramoth Rajendran said the refreshed HSBC Premier proposition focuses on four key pillars: Health, wealth, travel, and international connectivity.
“We are continuously working to bring you best-in-class service, best-in-class products and propositions, and the best-in-class banking experience,” Rajendran said.
He said the new Premier offering includes curated privileges in health, wellness, and lifestyle experiences tailored for clients in Davao, which he described as the “crown jewel of Mindanao.”
According to Rajendran, the bank’s international banking services are designed for customers with cross-border financial needs. He added that its travel-focused products aim to enhance convenience and value for global mobility.
The HSBC highlighted the four pillars of HSBC Premier –
wealth, international, travel, and wellness – through interactive exhibits and partner booths featuring Allianz, Davao Doctors Hospital, and other service providers.
Uppa said the initiative forms part of its continued effort to strengthen customer engagement and expand premium banking services outside Metro Manila, positioning Davao as a key growth hub for international banking and wealth management in Mindanao.
