Experience a refined urban retreat at AC Hotel by Marriott
Inside the newly launched hotel in Ortigas, where architecture, flavor, and atmosphere come together

When travel becomes expensive and days become gloomy, many Manila-dwellers seek accommodations within the capital that provide a convenient escape and a break from the demands of everyday life. This is where Manila-based hotels truly shine, with their accessibility, quality facilities, and warm service.

The latest to be included in Manila’s list of hospitality establishments is AC Hotel by Marriott. Set within the all-glass Glas Tower in Ortigas Center, the hotel was first unveiled in December 2025, but it was on May 15, 2026, when it was officially launched.
Its roots can be traced to Spain, when businessman Antonio Catalán founded the brand in 1998. Since then, AC Hotels has spread throughout the globe, including locations in the US, the UK, Australia, and many Asian countries. Through its partnership with Marriott, the brand finally has a flagship location in the Philippines.
AC Hotel by Marriott Manila general manager Melvyn Angeles, founder and chairman of ASYA architect Albert Yu, interior design director and managing director of AC Hotel by Marriott Manila Clarice Yu-Sy, Marriott International area general manager for the Philippines Bruce Winton, director of Sales Ellie Alarcon, and financial controller Jojit Padullo raise a toast in celebration of the hotel’s official launch.
But unlike other hotels in the metro, what truly sets AC Hotel by Marriott apart is its focus on design. Yes, design becomes part of the experience when staying at the hotel. Through its “Perfectly Precise” philosophy, it blends modern European sophistication with purposeful design, creating stays that feel refined, effortless, and memorable.
During its launch, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle got to experience what it’s like to stay at the hotel and witness firsthand how its thoughtfully curated spaces, culinary offerings, and guest-centered amenities make for a remarkable retreat.
Where light meets minimalist luxury
To get to AC Hotel by Marriott, one must ride the elevator up to the 38th floor. Once the doors open, guests are greeted by light. The Glas Tower is known for being the country’s first double-glazed and triple low-E–certified landmark. Not only does the hotel offer sweeping city skyline, golf course, and sunset views, it also allows natural light to fill the space without the accompanying heat.
The natural light also highlights the hotel’s open layout and minimalist design. Its lobby gives a taste of how the hotel embraces clean architectural lines and calming palettes. This design is echoed in the rooms as well. The hotel offers a variety of stays, from two-bedroom apartments to superior king rooms. Our home during the stay was the deluxe suite, a 50–54 sqm room that gave us a panoramic view of the Ortigas cityscape, the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, and, if you look even further, Manila Bay.
It is spacious and minimalist, and features a dual-sink vanity and a tub. What I appreciate more is the layout, with the bed set in the middle of the room—just the right spot to take in the view of the city.
A curated culinary stay
Dining is always a big part of a staycation. At the hotel, most of its culinary creations can be experienced at AC Kitchen. Led by executive chef Bonn Reyes, the culinary team brings to the table a thoughtfully curated spread inspired by European flavors with a Filipino twist.
One of the best dishes we tried at AC Kitchen is the team’s Beef Salpicao, a generous plate of spiced tender beef with lots of toasted garlic. The Grilled Bacalao, salted cod fish paired with marble potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and salsa verde, is also a must-try. For dessert, one can satisfy their sweet cravings with a decadent plate of chocolate mousse.
If guests are not in the mood for a full-course dinner, the AC Store on the ground level of the building offers a selection of ready-to-go snacks and beverages 24/7. Meanwhile, the AC Lounge on the 38th level serves small plates and expertly crafted drinks, from lattes to cocktails.
Moments that linger
There’s no need to go out of the hotel just to have a good time. Apart from its rooms and dining spaces, guests can also lounge by the indoor AC Swimming Pool on the 57th level. Right beside it is AC Fitness, a space designed for focused workouts and balanced routines.
But for this author, what I appreciate more are the sensory elements and social experiences the hotel offers. Its AC Signature Moments highlight two experiences. First is the AC Gin and Tonic at the newly opened AC Bar. Located on the 61st level, the roofdeck bar gives the best vantage view of the city, with cocktails and tapas (a nod to its Spanish roots) to match. Just imagine taking in the vast horizons and enjoying a selection of tapas paired with expertly crafted cocktails, as the city slowly transitions from golden hour to a glittering nightscape below.
The second AC Signature Moment, A Restful Night, further deepens this sensory journey, focusing on thoughtful touches that encourage guests to slow down. It features a lavender booth where guests can make their own lavender sachets and bring them to their room, adding a calming, personal touch to the bedtime experience.
Ultimately, AC Hotel by Marriott presents itself as more than just a place to stay in the city. It is a destination that is within reach, letting you relax and enjoy quiet moments without chasing itineraries or rushing through experiences. Instead, it invites guests to slow down, take in the skyline, and rediscover comfort in simplicity.
