For the first time in her celebrated career, actress, fashion icon, and television personality Heart Evangelista is stepping into the world of game show hosting, and she couldn't be more excited.
Beginning June 6, Heart will headline GMA Network's newest original game show, “The People Have Spoken,” alongside actor and television host Sean Lucas.
While known for her elegance and sophistication, Heart is eager to show viewers a more playful and expressive side of herself through the program.
At the show's recent media conference, Heart admitted that hosting a game show is an entirely new experience for her, but one she instantly embraced when it was offered to her.
"It's a first time for me to host a game show. I must say, nawalan ako ng boses, pero ang saya kasi madaldal talaga akong tao," she shared with a laugh. "I feel like nagkaroon ako ng outlet to be more expressive, to join a conversation, and I love that."
What makes “The People Have Spoken” especially appealing to Heart is its unique format, which revolves around the opinions of everyday Filipinos. Unlike traditional trivia-based competitions, the game challenges celebrity contestants to predict the most popular responses from a 100-member studio audience on a wide range of relatable topics.
For Heart, the show's appeal goes far beyond entertainment.
"It’s something that allows you to interact with people on the show and the people watching," she explained.
Because the game highlights personal viewpoints rather than right or wrong answers, Heart believes it creates opportunities for understanding and learning from others.
"Parang dito, parang walang maling sagot, but may dahilan kung bakit ganun ang sagot nila. So, in a way, you're also educating each other. So, I love it," she said.
The actress further emphasized that hearing perspectives from people coming from different walks of life has become one of the most rewarding aspects of hosting the program.
"It’s a good way to educate yourself for certain things na, 'Ah, iba tayo ng pananaw. Pero okay, gets kita.' So, bet na bet ko," she added.
That openness to learning is exactly what makes the show a perfect fit for Heart. Through every discussion, debate, and opinion shared onstage, she gains fresh insights into how Filipinos think and feel about a variety of issues. At the same time, viewers get to witness her natural curiosity, warmth, and humor shine through.
Directed by Arnel Natividad, “The People Have Spoken” premieres June 6 and airs every Saturday at 6:15 PM on GMA.
