De La Salle University is the network host of SDSN Philippines
By MBrand
SDSN Philippines is a network of universities, research institutes, and non-governmental organizations that contribute to the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is the Philippine chapter of the world’s largest knowledge network for the SDGs.
SDSN Philippines currently does not have any Facebook accounts. Its former official Facebook page (facebook.com/OfficialSDSNPhilippines) has been suspended. Any claim of other social media pages/entities acting as SDSN Philippines is false and illegitimate. The only legitimate accounts of SDSN Philippines are its email at [email protected], LinkedIn at linkedin.com/company/sdsnphilippines/, and website at sdsnphilippines.com.
SDSN Philippines is committed to ensuring knowledge regarding the SDGs and sustainable development solutions remains accessible to all. SDSN Philippines, together with SDSN Youth Philippines, DOES NOT charge any fees or monetary compensation for membership, access to events, or publicly shared resources.
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network was established in 2012 by the former UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon and world-renowned economist and professor, Jeffrey Sachs. SDSN Philippines was launched in 2015 and has always operated under the guidance and in accordance with the larger Global SDSN entity.
De La Salle University (DLSU) was endorsed as the SDSN Philippines’ official Host Institution in February 2025, after a joint chairship with Ateneo de Manila University in 2024. DLSU will serve as the Network Host until 2027, as terms for hosting last for three (3) years, but may be renewed. The Secretariat of SDSN Philippines is based at the De La Salle University Sustainability Office, which coordinates DLSU’s sustainability-oriented programs and initiatives. Any SDSN Philippines entity unaffiliated with DLSU, the current Host Institution, has not undergone due process or obtained clearance from SDSN Global.
Dr. Francisco A. Magno, Director of the DLSU Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance, serves as the Chair of the National Leadership Council, which oversees the governance of SDSN Philippines. The Country Manager is Antonio Carlos M. Maralit, Executive Director of the University Sustainability Office (USO).
Moreover, SDSN Youth Philippines, recognized by SDSN Youth Global and SDSN Global, is led solely by Ms. Rafaella Villena, who is the appointed Network Coordinator. She operates under the De La Salle University Sustainability Office. There are no chapters of SDSN Youth Philippines, as it recruits member organizations to the network. Any other organization using the name and/or logos of SDSN Youth Philippines is not affiliated with SDSN Youth Global. Other organizations are operating independently, without the sanction, guidance, and proper processes prescribed by SDSN Global.
By nature, SDSN Philippines is not an independent entity and is reliant on the Host Institution and its Member Institutions to execute its projects, programs, and values, as observed by Country Networks across the world. It receives direct guidance from the SDSN Asia-Pacific Regional Network and SDSN Global, and follows certain guidelines to ensure the quality and purpose set by SDSN Global are fulfilled. As such, projects of SDSN Philippines are often marked by the logo of the Host Institution and/or the Member Institutions, and receive proper clearance to do so.
SDSN Philippines continues to champion the SDGs, and looks forward to collaborating with institutions that uphold the same values with the Network – of honesty, transparency, and commitment to realizing a better future for all. It embraces the movement and calls for the realization of SDGs, and commends all organizations that empower communities to take action. However, it believes that its stakeholders deserve to make fully informed decisions, and not allow disinformation to represent the organization.
SDSN Philippines urges its stakeholders and the general public to remain vigilant regarding information disseminated online, events, and projects circulated. Read about its upcoming events and previous initiatives through our website, at sdsnphilippines.com.
