Anne Curtis-Smith on the appeal of non-invasive treatments that fit into a busy lifestyle
The actress shares why Emface fits her busy schedule, and doctors explain how the technology works
There was a time when aesthetic treatments were meant to be seen. Today, many people prefer the opposite.
The goal is no longer to look dramatically different, but to look well-rested, refreshed, and like the best version of themselves. This shift toward subtle enhancements is one reason why non-invasive procedures continue to gain popularity.
At its launch last June 2 at Fairmont Makati, BTL Aesthetics Philippines introduced actress Anne Curtis as the new face of Emface, a facial treatment designed to lift and tone without needles, surgery, or downtime.
She embodies the qualities the treatment aims to deliver. “We wanted someone who truly embodies what Emface stands for—confidence, authenticity, and looking refreshed and empowered while still looking like herself,” said Ludovico Perez Jr., general manager of BTL Aesthetics Philippines.

For Anne, the partnership made sense because it reflects how she approaches beauty. Unlike treatments that add volume through injectables or require surgery, Emface works by combining synchronized radiofrequency and high-intensity facial electrical stimulation. The technology targets both the skin and facial muscles simultaneously.
“I like that it doesn’t take away from what you really look like—it just enhances what’s already there,” Anne said.
“Think of it as a facial workout and skin treatment happening at the same time,” explained board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jonathan Nevin Yu during a panel discussion. “It is the only one that combines two technologies in one—your synchronized RF (radiofrequency) and HIFES (high-intensity facial electrical stimulation).”
The treatment takes about 20 minutes per session, with doctors recommending four sessions for optimal results. Dr. Jonathan added, “It’s an effortless lift. There’s no cutting involved. There’s no injection involved. Patients are in and out of the clinic in 20 to 30 minutes.”
The treatment has attracted a wide range of patients, from those hoping to stay ahead of visible signs of aging to people who want a more refreshed appearance without undergoing invasive procedures.

According to dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon Dr. Lisa Encarnacion-Mangubat, the treatment can benefit both younger and older patients. “It’s for anyone and everyone,” she said. “It’s really good for prejuvenators, and those in their 30s and 40s. Likewise, it’s good for mature patients who have experienced signs of skin aging, skin laxity, and loss of muscle tone.” She added that it may also appeal to individuals who have experienced rapid weight loss and are looking to improve facial firmness.
For Anne, the biggest advantage is practical. “Time is gold,” she said.
The actress, who balances television projects, endorsements, business ventures, and motherhood, said convenience has become a major factor when choosing treatments.
“I juggle my responsibilities at home as a mom. I make sure to spend time with my family while still being present at my work commitments,” she said. “It can be a lot for sure, which is why having a treatment like this, that I can do in as fast as 20 minutes. It truly is a game changer for me.”
She also appreciates that the procedure requires no recovery period. “I love that it’s so fast. The treatment is pain-free, and I can go straight to work right after, meaning that there is no downtime.”
For someone constantly in front of cameras, she says the appeal is not about looking dramatically different. “I’ve always been someone who believed in non-invasive treatments,” she said. “I like that it doesn’t take away from what you really look like. It just kind of enhances it.”
That idea—enhancement rather than transformation—is where much of aesthetic medicine is headed. As Anne said, “It’s all about enhancing what’s already there.”
