Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano spearheaded the launch of Brigada Eskwela 2026 on Wednesday, June 3, rallying the entire community to ensure schools are safe, clean, and ready for learning.
Rubiano was joined by Councilor Luigi Calixto-Rubiano, teachers, parents, volunteers, local government personnel, and community stakeholders in preparing the Villamor Air Base Elementary School, the venue for this year's Brigada Eskwela kickoff.
Participants carried out various activities to prepare the school for the opening of classes, including classroom cleaning, repairs, maintenance, painting, and campus beautification.
The mayor said a flushing activity was also conducted to help ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the school facilities.
In her message, Rubiano emphasized that Brigada Eskwela goes beyond physical improvements and serves as a symbol of the community's shared commitment to education.
“Brigada Eskwela is not only about cleaning, painting, or repairing classrooms. It is also a symbol of our concern for education. To everyone who participated in Brigada Eskwela, thank you for your time, hard work, and dedication. May this program continue to inspire greater unity and cooperation in our schools,” the mayor said.
She also led the distribution of school bags, brooms and dustpans, and paint supplies to support the school's preparation activities.
The annual initiative encourages active participation from various sectors to ensure that public schools are ready to welcome students for the new academic year.
Rubiano expressed hope that the continued collaboration among educators, parents, volunteers, government workers, and community members will help create a more productive, learner-friendly, and supportive environment for Pasay City's students.
