An alleged member of the “Bahala Na Gang” was arrested after police recovered an improvised firearm from him in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Wednesday, June 3.
The suspect was identified as Jaime, 52, a resident of Sta. Mesa and an alleged member of the “Bahala Na Gang.”
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), personnel from the Avelino Police Community Precinct were conducting patrol around 4:30 p.m. when a concerned citizen reported a man carrying a firearm.
Police proceeded to R.M. Boulevard corner Altura Street in Barangay 593, where they saw Aquino holding and inspecting a pen gun.
Officers approached him and recovered the improvised firearm along with one live round of .38-caliber ammunition.
Authorities said Aquino failed to present documents authorizing him to possess the firearm and ammunition. He was brought to the Ospital ng Sampaloc for physical examination before being turned over to the Sta. Mesa Police Station.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
