Authorities seized around P4.3 million worth of illegal drugs, including cocaine, ecstasy tablets, and ketamine, from a 23-year-old suspected drug trafficker during a buy-bust operation in Makati City on Thursday, June 4.
The Southern Police District (SPD) said the man, identified as “Kuya,” was arrested following the operation carried out by personnel of the Makati CPS-Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay San Antonio at around 4:10 a.m.
Authorities said they immediately arrested the suspect after an undercover police officer purchased marijuana kush worth P100,000 from him.
During the operation, authorities seized around 1,400 grams of marijuana kush valued at ₱2.1 million, 710 ecstasy tablets worth ₱1.207 million, 45 vape cartridges containing marijuana oil valued at ₱135,000, 100 grams of cocaine worth ₱530,000, and 40 grams of ketamine valued at ₱378,000.
Authorities also seized items allegedly used in the illegal drug trade, including a digital weighing scale, a marked P1,000 bill, 99 pieces of boodle money used in the buy-bust operation, and packaging materials allegedly used for the storage and distribution of illegal drugs.
The suspect is currently under police custody and will be charged with violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
SPD chief Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver C. Cinco said the seizure of P4.3 million worth of various illegal drugs is a significant accomplishment and a clear indication of the SPD's continuing efforts to prevent the entry and spread of dangerous substances in communities.
“Sa SPD, hindi tayo titigil sa pagsasagawa ng intelligence-driven operations at mas pinaigting na law enforcement efforts upang matukoy, maaresto, at mapanagot ang mga taong sangkot sa ilegal na kalakalan ng droga (At the SPD, we will not stop conducting intelligence-driven operations and strengthening our law enforcement efforts to identify, arrest, and hold accountable those involved in the illegal drug trade),” Cinco said.
“We encourage the public to continue working with the police in our shared effort to maintain a safe and drug-free Metro Manila,” the chief added.
