Antipolo senior nabbed for threatening minors with bolo, rifle
An 80-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, June 2, in Antipolo City, Rizal, for allegedly threatening three minors with a bolo and a rifle as they cleaned the front of their house following soil erosion.
The Antipolo Component City Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said the incident occurred around 11 a.m. in Barangay San Luis, while the victims, aged 14, 15, and 17, and a complainant were cleaning and packing soil along the roadside in front of their house.
While cleaning, they said the suspect, who was at the doorway of his house, suddenly uttered, “Ang kakapal ng mukha n’yo, mga walang hiya, walang kwenta, mga squatter, mga walang pinag-aralan (You're all so shameless. You're worthless, squatters, and uneducated).”
The victims and the complainant looked at the suspect and allegedly saw him holding a bolo while making the remarks.
Despite this, they chose to ignore him. However, the suspect allegedly continued his tirade, saying, "Mga squatter, akala n'yo sa inyo ang bahay na 'yan (You're squatters. You think that house is yours).”
When the victims looked at the suspect again, they allegedly saw that he had switched from a bolo to a rifle and was pointing it at them from the doorway of his house.
Authorities said one of the victims was able to take photos and record a video of the suspect while he was pointing the firearm at them.
After the incident, the victims and the complainant sought assistance from PCP-2, prompting police officers to immediately proceed to the area and arrest the suspect.
“However, the bolo and the alleged rifle used in the incident were not recovered,” police said.
Authorities added that while under police custody, the suspect continued to utter defamatory and insulting remarks against the complainants and victims, prompting them to pursue the filing of appropriate charges.
He is now under the custody of the Antipolo City Male Custodial Facility and will face charges of grave threats in relation to Republic Act 7610 and unjust vexation.
