ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 is investigating police officers allegedly involved in illegal quarrying operations in Iloilo province.
“(I have) directed the concerned units to conduct a comprehensive and fact-based investigation and coordinate with the proper government agencies to determine the veracity of the allegations and identify those who may be held accountable,” said PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño in a statement.
The Iloilo Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (Iloilo PGENRO) said last month that several
Philippine National Police (PNP) officers are allegedly involved and may face charges for illegal quarrying.
The Iloilo PGENRO withheld their names but said illegal quarry operations are present in the towns of Calinog, Dueñas, and Lambunao.
Police Col. Bayani Razalan, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) chief, has talked to the police officers and warned them that they could face criminal and administrative cases for their alleged involvement.
Tuaño reiterated PRO-6’s zero tolerance policy against any form of illegal activity, misconduct, or abuse of authority.
“Any personnel found involved, directly or indirectly, shall face appropriate administrative and criminal charges in accordance with existing laws and regulations,” said Tuaño.
“The regional police force remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability, environmental protection, and the rule of law, while continuously strengthening its internal cleansing efforts and enforcing the highest standards of professionalism and public service.”
