ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 has formed a new anti-drug team to go after big-time drug peddlers in Western Visayas region.
“What is needed is a new direction,” said PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño.
Tuaño ordered police units in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces and the regional capital of Iloilo City to focus not only on street-level drug peddlers but also key drug players.
He said drug suspects considered as high-valued individuals should be a target of anti-drug operations as it would mean that police can intercept higher volume of illegal drugs from being distributed in the region.
“Hindi tayo titigil hanggang maabot natin hindi lamang ang mga street-level peddlers kundi maging ang mas malalaking personalidad na sangkot sa illegal drug trade (We will not stop until we reach not only the street-level peddlers but also the bigger personalities involved in the illegal drug trade),” said Tuaño.
PRO-6 urged local government units (LGUs) and barangay officials to cooperate in the new anti-drug campaign strategy.
Tuaño announced the creation of the new anti-drug team this week to replace personnel assigned to Metro Manila and Cebu.
