Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the Brigada Eskwela 2026 kickoff at Kapitbahayan Elementary School on Tuesday, June 2.
The city government said it ensured the safety and security of all attendees, especially students, during the activity.
The city also provided new school equipment to help prepare learners for the opening of classes.
Tiangco thanked Marcos for visiting the city, joining the bayanihan activity, reading a story, and spending time with Navoteño students.
The city government said the President’s visit gave students a memorable experience ahead of the new school year.
Also present were Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino.
Angara joined the inspection of the school, while Gatchalian led support for the “Tara, Basa!” program.
Tolentino also assisted through the deployment of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) workers, who helped clean and prepare the school.
