President Marcos has appointed former Taguig City mayor Lino Cayetano as the new General Manager of PTV 4, Malacañang said.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez announced Cayetano's designation on Wednesday, June 3.
He will be replacing outgoing PTV 4 chief Maria Lourdes Fagar.
"I am happy to announce that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new General Manager of PTV 4 vice Maria Lourdes Fagar," Gomez said in a statement.
"I would also like to extend my profound gratitude to GM Fragar for her service to the station and the nation," Gomez added.
Gomez said Cayetano brings in a "rare wealth of experience" as a film director.
"Former Mayor Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, the private and the public sector that would certainly take PTV 4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multi-media landscape," Gomez said.
Cayetano was a film graduate at the University of the Philippines and took further studies in filmmaking in New York.
From being a film and television director, Cayetano entered politics in 2013 when he was elected as representative of the 2nd district of Taguig.
He served as mayor of Taguig from 2019 to 2022.
He is the youngest sibling of Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Pia Cayetano.
