Caloocan gov't offers free diabetes medicines, chemotherapy support

Caloocan City has rolled out a major health initiative, providing residents with free diabetes medicines and chemotherapy support through its network of local health centers.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, residents diagnosed with diabetes may visit the nearest health center to receive maintenance medicines good for 30 days.
Free insulin is also available in selected health centers, including Barangay 120 Health Center, Bagong Barrio Zone 1 Health Center, Barangay 14 Health Center, Ascoville Health Center, Amparo Health Center, Urduja Health Center, Parkland Health Center, and Bagong Silang Phase 7 Health Center.
Available insulin includes glargine insulin, isophane insulin 100 IU, and biphasic insulin 70/30.
The city government said residents who suspect they may have diabetes may also seek free medical consultation at city health centers.
Meanwhile, the local government has partnered with Prime Treatment Group (PTG) to provide free chemotherapy or infusion therapy sessions for Caloocan residents with cancer, regardless of age.
The service is available at the PTG Caloocan Chemotherapy Center on the second floor of Ziti Center in Caloocan City. The center is open from Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents who want to avail themselves of the service must first secure an endorsement letter from the Community Relations Office (CRO).
CRO North is located on the ground floor of the SDC Building at Caloocan City Hall-North, while CRO South is located on the sixth floor of Caloocan City Hall-South.
Applicants must bring a valid ID with a Caloocan address, such as a Philippine National ID, driver’s license, UMID, postal ID, voter’s ID, Caloocan-issued senior citizen ID, Caloocan-issued person with disability ID, or PhilHealth ID.
They must also submit a medical certificate, diagnosis, or treatment plan, if available, before proceeding to PTG Caloocan.
The city government clarified that surgery is not covered by the free services. It said chemotherapy under the program is limited to systemic or infusion therapy.
The local government said the programs are part of its efforts to make healthcare services more accessible to residents.
