K-pop idol Junghoon leaves Omega X, says 'This is not the end of my career'

K-pop boy band Omega X member Junghoon has officially left the group, but assured fans that his departure does not mark the end of his career.

Korean entertainment agency IPQ announced that Junghoon would no longer be a member of Omega X effective June 1.

In a statement, the agency said Junghoon had been dealing with ongoing health concerns while carefully considering his future career path.

“Junghoon has continued his activities over an extended period while dealing with accumulated health concerns and giving careful consideration to his future career path. The company and the members have spent a considerable amount of time discussing and coordinating the situation in the hope that Junghoon would be able to resume activities with the group. However, it was determined that the current circumstances could continue for the foreseeable future,” the agency said.

Junghoon, 26, also addressed fans through Instagram, announcing his departure from Omega X and sharing his plans moving forward.

The singer first debuted in 2019 under the stage name J-Kid as a member of the boy band ENOi. Following the group's disbandment, he re-debuted as Junghoon in Omega X in 2021.

Reflecting on his journey as an idol, Junghoon said, “So many things have happened since my debut on April 19, 2019. There were moments when I shone on stage, which I had dreamed of since childhood, but there were also times when I felt frustrated and lost.”

He revealed that he had spent a long time discussing his future with IPQ before ultimately deciding to leave the group.

“I believe this choice is not an end to my career as Junghoon, but a process of starting a new challenge with the mindset of the beginning,” he said.

“Although I stand before a major change, I intend to move forward while cherishing all the time that has shaped me. I will strive to stand before you again as soon as possible with better music and a better image.”

Junghoon expressed gratitude to fans for their unwavering support throughout his career and promised to return with new activities in the future.
