1,486 PRO-13 cops to secure June 8 school opening in Caraga

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 will deploy 1,486 policemen in the Caraga region for the opening of classes on June 8.
Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer, PRO-13 public information officer, said 202 Police Assistance Desks (PADs) will be established. “Police presence will be felt starting this week,” Ometer added.
Ometer said all field units are working hand-in-hand with school authorities, local government units, and transport groups to make the opening of school year 2026-2027 incident-free.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV ordered all regional, provincial, and city mobile commanders as well as provincial and city directors and municipal chiefs of police to be on the ground to maintain peace and order during the opening of classes.
Magistrado urged the public to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police officer or via the 911 emergency hotline.
Meanwhile, Education Secretary Sonny Angara kicked off the 2026 National Brigada Eskwela at the Cabadbaran City National High School in Agusan del Norte on Monday, June 1.
Angara was joined by top officials from Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, and DepEd-13.
This year's Brigada Eskwela theme is “Bayanihan sa Paaralan Nagkaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman.”
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allocated P2 billion to support the Brigada Eskwela this year through the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers or TUPAD program that will benefit some 240,000 workers nationwide.
Angara thanked the DOLE for supporting this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
