Woman surrenders P1-M shabu concealed by live-in partner

BACOLOD CITY – A woman voluntarily surrendered 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1 million in Barangay 1 here last week.
A report from the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) released on Monday, June 1, said that the contraband was kept by her live-in partner who was recently jailed for a drug offense.
Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said the suspect allegedly admitted concealing the item in their house and expressed intention to surrender them to authorities when his father visited him in jail.
The contraband was turned over by the woman to Police Station 2 and signified her cooperation with authorities and support for the government’s ongoing campaign against illegal substances.
The drug suspect was arrested in Barangay Tangub here on May 27. Confiscated from him was suspected shabu worth P476,000.
The PRO-NIR said this development further highlights the growing public awareness and trust in their campaign towards safer and drug-free communities across the region.
Police continue to intensify their anti-illegal drug efforts through strengthened law enforcement initiatives, intelligence monitoring, and community cooperation.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man tagged as person of interest in the killing of a 38-year-old woman in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on May 22 was recently arrested by police in a buy-bust operation.
Police Lt. Daleen Grace Loreno, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, identified the subject as Idoy, a resident of Barangay Sicaba, Cadiz City. The suspect allegedly yielded 11 grams of suspected shabu worth P74,800 and a firearm.
Loreno said Idoy was allegedly involved in the death of the victim whose body was found near a waiting shed in Sitio Capayas, Barangay Sicaba, where she was waiting for her husband. However, Loreno said there was no substantial evidence pointing him as a suspect to the crime.
