A 48-year-old man was arrested early Sunday, May 31, after allegedly causing a commotion and hurling offensive remarks at a police officer inside Anonas Police Station 9 in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said the suspect, identified as alias “Arturo,” of Barangay West Kamias, was taken into custody at around 4:25 a.m. after reportedly refusing to follow lawful instructions and disrupting police assistance inside the station.
Initial investigation showed the suspect and his wife went to Anonas Police Station 9 at around 3:45 a.m. to complain about barangay personnel who earlier visited their home after reports that he was allegedly drunk.
Authorities said the situation escalated at the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) when the suspect’s wife raised concerns about his behavior while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, causing him to become agitated.
Police said the suspect allegedly uttered offensive remarks and repeatedly pointed at a police officer despite reminders to maintain proper conduct.
He reportedly ignored repeated instructions from on-duty personnel to calm down and follow the proper complaint process, prompting police to restrain and arrest him.
Station commander Police Lt. Col. Leonie Ann Dela Cruz said the suspect will face charges of alarm and scandal, unjust vexation, and resistance and disobedience to persons in authority before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The QCPD reminded the public that police stations remain open for assistance, but urged proper decorum and compliance with lawful instructions to maintain order and safety inside police premises.
