Police arrested a restaurant receiving clerk for allegedly falsifying LPG delivery transactions, causing an estimated ₱100,000 loss to his employer in Pasay City.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto said the suspect, Larry, 21, was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on May 31 inside a restaurant at Seaside Dampa on Macapagal Boulevard, Barangay 76.
Investigators said the scheme was uncovered after restaurant supervisor Ela noticed discrepancies between the establishment’s LPG consumption records and the quantities reflected in reports submitted by the clerk.
From April until May 31, Larry allegedly manipulated LPG delivery records intended for restaurant operations.
As the receiving clerk, he reportedly requested additional copies of delivery receipts and submitted reports to management indicating a greater number of LPG cylinders than those actually delivered and paid for.
Records showed that deliveries of three or four LPG cylinders were falsely reported as four or six cylinders, respectively. This discrepancy allegedly enabled the suspect to collect payments for cylinders that were neither purchased nor delivered.
Verification with the LPG supplier confirmed that only four cylinders had been purchased and delivered, contrary to the six reported to management.
Upon discovering the discrepancies through an audit, the restaurant supervisor confronted the suspect and sought assistance from Pasay Police Substation 1. The scheme reportedly caused losses amounting to about ₱100,000.
Larry was arrested and brought to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) for investigation and detention.
He is facing charges for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, or estafa.
