SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija – Nine persons were injured in a collision between a Victory Liner passenger bus and a wing van truck loaded with a fermented fish paste ingredients here before dawn on Sunday, May 31.
Police Master Sgt. Froilan Sarmiento, San Jose City Police Station investigator, said the bus driver reportedly lost control of the steering wheel and the bus veered into the opposite lane and collided with the oncoming truck.
Nine persons were injured – the truck driver, his helper, and seven bus passengers – and taken to hospitals.
Sarmiento said the bus driver admitted experiencing fatigue prior to the crash.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has cleared the road to restore traffic flow and ensure public safety. Damaged vehicles were taken to the police station for documentation and further investigation.
Discussions on a possible amicable settlement are ongoing. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
This accident occurred a few hours after two Victory Liner buses collided in Tuba, Benguet on Saturday night. One person was killed and more than 80 persons were injured.
