The Muntinlupa City government announced that 31,000 households will receive rice from the national government’s “Bigay Bigas sa Masa” program.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the pilot distribution of 10‑kilo sacks of rice to about 1,900 recipients in Muntinlupa in May.
Qualified beneficiaries include indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs) and care‑dependents. These cover bedridden senior citizens, RIDEMed beneficiaries, wheelchair users, the deaf, amputees, the blind, and individuals with cancer, rare diseases, cerebral palsy, seizures, chronic kidney disease, autism spectrum disorder, Attention‑Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), stroke, and mental disorders.
Indigent workers will also receive free rice, including fishermen, farmers, tricycle, jeepney, and “padyak” drivers, motorcycle taxi and delivery riders, barangay health workers, Kabalikat members, and informal waste workers.
Additional beneficiaries are families with housing vulnerabilities, such as informal settler families in danger areas like waterways, coastal zones, and transmission lines, as well as families affected by fires in Muntinlupa from January to the present.
Families with health and social vulnerabilities are also included, such as solo parents, SNAP and Busog Lusog feeding program beneficiaries, pregnant teenagers, and womb‑to‑work beneficiaries.
Rice distribution will take place four times this year in Muntinlupa, with each beneficiary receiving a total of 40 kilos of the staple food.
