That clutch intrusion turned out to be decisive as the Black Bulls failed to convert on two attempts, forced an inbound turnover, only to bungle their chance with an inbound miscue with 4.5 seconds left.
Pasay, which rallied from a 28-17 deficit in the second quarter, rebounded from a loss in its previous game and improved to 7-3 in the round-robin elimination phase of the two-division, 28-team tournament.
Homegrown Nico Quinal topscored for the Voyagers with 14 on top of 2 assists and 2 steals, while King Gurtiza was chosen the SportsPlus best player with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Other Voyagers who delivered were Lennard Santiago with 13 points and 4 rebounds, and Chris Fajarito with 12 points, including back-to-back triples that pushed the Voyagers ahead, 71-62.
Quezon City fell to 6-4 despite Christian Agoncillo's 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, Kobe Monje's 13 points and 4 rebounds, Aeron Bagunu's 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, MJ JOson's 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, and Clark Derige's 10 points.
With Quinal hitting three of three, Pasay converted 10 of 23 triple attempts for 43.5 percent against only 4 of 21 (19 percent) for Quezon City.
The tournament resumes on Monday at the One Arena Cainta, featuring games between Quezon Province and Sarangani at 4 p.m., Marikina and Meycauayan Marilao at 6 p.m., and Negros and Bacolod at 8 p.m.
