Man dies after knife fight with ex-lover's current partner

A man died after a knife fight with the current partner of his former live-in partner in Antipolo City, Rizal on Saturday, May 30.

Based on the investigation of the Antipolo Component City Police (Antipolo CCPS), the incident was caught on the CCTV footage, where the victim, identified only as Gilberto, was seen entering the establishment along J.P. Rizal Street in Barangay Dela Paz, while armed with a knife.

Authorities said that the suspect, identified as "Anthony," noticed the victim's presence, prompting him to immediately stand up and draw a knife from the side of his shorts.

The two then engaged in a knife fight, in which Gilberto sustained a serious stab wound in his chest, while Anthony sustained an injury near his upper eyebrow area.

Both individuals were brought to the hospital for medical treatment, where Gilberto was declared dead.

Authorities said the altercation may have stemmed from an existing grudge between the two, as the victim's former live-in partner is allegedly now in a relationship with the suspect.

Anthony is now under the custody of the Antipolo Custodial Facility while pertinent documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges against him.
