Chinese envoy visits Parola fire victims, joins Manila relief operations
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan visited fire victims in Parola, Tondo, Manila on May 30, joining a relief operation aimed at assisting families affected by a recent blaze in the area.
The activity was organized by the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation, in coordination with partner groups, and involved the distribution of aid to displaced residents at the Delpan Evacuation Center, where many evacuees are temporarily staying.
During the visit, Jing personally met with affected families and conveyed his message of solidarity, acknowledging the hardship faced by the community in the aftermath of the disaster.
“I know you already suffered a lot from the disaster. We’re here and we want to give you the support. China and Philippines, we’re neighbors, we’re friends. We should always like each other, support each other and help each other,” the ambassador said.
He also encouraged cooperation in rebuilding efforts, expressing hope for the community’s swift recovery.
“Let’s work together, let’s rebuild our homes, our community as soon as possible,” he added.
Jing likewise extended his appreciation to organizations and individuals involved in the relief operations, including the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation.
“I want to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, to the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation, to all Filipinos who have made such a tremendous effort, to help the local people,” he said.
The visit comes in the wake of a massive fire that hit Parola on May 23, affecting around 2,000 families and destroying hundreds of homes in the coastal community.
