Barangays 12, Granada top Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival dance tilt

BACOLOD CITY – Barangays 12 and Granada were hailed champions in the street and arena dance competition during this year’s Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival (BCIF) at the Megaworld Upper East here on Saturday, May 30.
Barangay 12, representing Malaysia, won in the festival street dance competition.
First place was Barangay Granada representing Timor-Leste and second place was Barangay Estefania representing Brunei.
In the festival arena dance competition, Barangay Granada was the grand winner, followed by Barangay 12 in first and Barangay Tangub representing Thailand in second.
Seven barangays participated in the competition representing different Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries. They creatively fused their own chicken inasal story interpretations with the culture, rhythm, and spirit of their assigned nations.
Barangay Mandalagan, representing Timor Leste, was champion in the cook off barangay category. Barangay 12, representing Malaysia, was second, and Barangay Banago representing Myanmar, was third place.
In the school category, University of Saint La Salle (USLS) United Chefs Society was the champion. Culinary Arts of First Academy representing Indonesia was second and USLS Center For Life Skill representing Timor-Leste is third.
The cook-off sought to show creative culinary while preserving the integrity of authentic chicken inasal.
The sixth iteration of the festival with the theme Inasal City highlighted this city’s world-famous chicken inasal and rich cultural heritage.
More than 400 policemen with 41 augmentation personnel were deployed by the Bacolod City Police Office to secure the three-day event from May 29 to 31.
