Actress, singer, and global fashion influencer Heart Evangelista has always made time for causes close to her heart.
Despite her busy schedule, balancing her reality series “Heart's World,” various international fashion commitments, and the upcoming GMA program “The People Have Spoken,” Evangelista recently spearheaded a fundraising initiative aimed at helping two groups she deeply cares about: senior citizens and rescued animals.
The fashion icon's successful "Heart and Friends Closet Party," held in April in Cubao, Quezon City, transformed pre-loved and brand-new fashion pieces into much-needed support for charitable organizations serving the elderly and animal welfare communities.
The event, which featured items from Evangelista's personal collection as well as contributions from her friends and glam team, drew hundreds of shoppers eager to score designer finds at affordable prices.
While a source close to Evangelista declined to disclose the total amount raised, the source confirmed that all proceeds have already been directed toward charitable beneficiaries.
Among them is Tahanang Mapagpala ng Immaculada Concepcion, a residential care facility for senior citizens in Malolos, Bulacan. Through the initiative, the institution received cash assistance, grocery items, and healthcare kits.
Part of the proceeds also benefited the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), an organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
For Evangelista, parting with pieces from her wardrobe was not without emotion. Many carried memories accumulated over the years, making the experience both meaningful and bittersweet.
"So for me, every item is worth something. Marami akong memories doon. So bittersweet, pero if it gives happiness to others, nakakatuwa siya," Evangelista previously shared.
Beyond her passion for fashion, Evangelista has long been known for her advocacy for animal welfare. She has often spoken about her lifelong love for dogs, revealing that her family has never been without a pet.
She previously credited her father, Rey Ongpauco, for teaching her and her sibling the value of compassion toward animals, including the importance of adopting and rescuing stray dogs, commonly known as "askals."
