ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Dennis Esguerra is the new Police Regional Office-9 chief.
Esguerra replaced Police Brig. Gen Edwin Quilates who has retired.
Police Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac, Philippine National Police deputy chief for administration, representing PNP chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., presided over the change of command ceremony at the PRO-9 headquarters here on Friday, May 29.
Esguerra vowed to sustain and strengthen the gains achieved by PRO-9 while advancing the focused agenda of the PNP chief.
Quilates served PRO-9 for five months.
He thanked the men and women of PRO-9 and acknowledged their efforts in advancing their mission of maintaining peace and order in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Banac underscored the importance of continuity in leadership and reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to the vision of a more professional, capable, and trustworthy police force.
Esguerra was deputy regional director for administration of the PRO-Negros Island Region before being assigned to PRO-9.
