The world-famous Cebu mangoes took center stage at the annual Cebu Mangoes Festival, a weeklong celebration that brought together local government units, academic institutions, community groups, and private enterprises in honoring the island province’s prized agricultural treasure.
Leading the ceremonial slicing of the 10-foot-tall mango cake, baked and assembled by hotel chefs, local groups, and members of the local communities, were (from left): Louella Caridad, General Manager, Mactan Expo; Mali Kiunisala, General Manager - The Mactan Newtown, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls; Efren Aying, Chairman, Barangay Mactan; Jonathan Uy, Executive Manager, Profood International Corp.; Gwen De La Cruz, General Manager, Mercure Mactan Cebu.
The Cebu Mangoes Festival 2026: A Sweet Journey, held from May 22 to 31 at Mactan Expo and across Megaworld’s The Mactan Newtown township, officially opened headlined by the Philippines’ Tallest Mango Cake—a spectacular 10-foot masterpiece made with loads of fresh mangoes. The grand showcase brought together community leaders, hotel partners, chefs, and guests in a vibrant celebration of Cebu’s world-famous mangoes and rich cultural heritage.
Festival-goers enjoyed a colorful lineup of activities throughout the celebration, including the Culinary Showdown; The Great Mango Harvest and Cebu Mangoes Festival Queen; and the Mango Tree Planting activity. Guests also explored the Cebu Mangoes Food Festival, which showcased mango-inspired dishes, desserts, beverages, and local specialties, while live performances from local bands added to the festive atmosphere.
Uniquely rooted in The Mactan Newtown, the festival reflects the township’s identity as home to Cebu’s only boulevard lined with hundreds of mango trees — a vision first introduced by Megaworld Chairman, Andrew L. Tan, in 2012. Beyond celebrating Cebu’s iconic fruit, the festival also highlighted products made from mangoes and mango trees while showcasing Cebuano culture and heritage.
“The Cebu Mangoes Festival is more than a celebration of one of Cebu’s most iconic fruits. It is a celebration of Cebuano culture, local flavors, traditions, and the shared experiences that bring communities together. Through this festival, we hope to further promote tourism in Lapu-Lapu City and give more people meaningful reasons to visit and experience the vibrant culture of Cebu,” said Malu Kiunisala, General Manager of The Mactan Newtown, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
