Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives have arrested a 28-year-old suspect for allegedly stealing five cellphones valued at ₱63,000 from construction workers inside their temporary barracks in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City.
QCPD Ddrector Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said the suspect, identified as alias “Jordan,” a resident of Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, was nabbed operatives of the QCPD Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) at around 10:00 p.m. on May 26 at his residence.
Police said the incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on the same day when the victims, who were sleeping inside their temporary barracks, noticed suspicious movement and later saw two unidentified men inside the premises.
The suspects were allegedly in possession of several cellular phones, prompting the victims to alert their co-workers.
Stolen items included an iPhone 11 worth ₱35,000, Realme C53 worth ₱8,000, Oppo A17K worth ₱6,000, Realme C21 worth ₱7,000, and Vivo 1906 worth ₱7,000, with a total value of ₱63,000.
Police said the victims later positively identified the suspect through a photograph shown by investigators. A follow-up operation was then launched, leading to his arrest and recovery of an iPhone 11.
Authorities said the suspect’s cohort remains at large and is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
Records showed that the arrested suspect has a prior robbery case and will face charges for robbery in an inhabited house or building before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
