The Makati City government on Thursday, May 28, began distributing mid-year cash incentives worth ₱6,000 to 59,414 registered Blu Card holders in the city through electronic payment channels.
On Friday, May 29, Makati Mayor Nancy Binay said the city has allocated P356.48 million for the mid-year incentive.
The beneficiaries include over 8,000 senior citizens who will receive their benefits at designated payout centers in their respective barangays starting June 3, ensuring that no qualified beneficiary will be left out due to lack of access to an e-wallet.
“We have made sure that no qualified beneficiary will be left out because of lack of access to an e-wallet,” Binay said.
The local government added that senior citizens with registered and validated GCash accounts have started to receive their incentives directly via digital payout, while onsite distribution for other qualified beneficiaries will also be conducted in designated payout venues for the 23 barangays of the city from June 3 to 10.
The mayor emphasized the city government’s firm commitment to ensuring that elderly residents continue to receive timely assistance and enjoy accessible services.
“Our senior citizens have played an important role in the growth and progress of Makati. Through this cash incentive program, we hope to give back and provide meaningful support for their daily needs and well-being. The City Government of Makati remains committed to honoring and caring for our elderly residents through programs that promote their welfare and quality of life,” Binay said.
She also explained that even as they embrace digital innovations to improve efficiency and transparency, they need to be flexible and provide alternative means of access to their constituents, especially those who are disadvantaged.
“Lahat makakatanggap ng kanilang mid-year incentive, wala pong mapagkakaitan. Alam po nating inaasahan ito ng ating mga seniorito at seniorita, kaya’t dapat lamang na matanggap nila ang benepisyong inilaan namin para sa kanila (All eligible beneficiaries will receive their mid-year incentive, and no one will be left out. We know that our senior citizens look forward to this, which is why it is only right that they receive the benefit we have allotted for them),” the mayor added.
“The city will continue to pursue ways to empower them so that they, too, can fully enjoy the convenience afforded by technology,” she continued.
The schedule for the manual payouts in every barangay was posted on the city’s official Facebook page, My Makati.
Blu Card holders were reminded to ensure that their GCash accounts are active and properly registered to avoid delays in receiving their incentives.
Meanwhile, unclaimed cash incentives on the scheduled payout dates may still be claimed on June 11 and June 15 to 18, at the Cash Division, 3rd Floor, Makati City Hall Building 1.
